Garment Care

At Devon we’re proud of ourschool uniforms. They look great, wear well, and last and last!

That’s because we use quality fabrics, employ precision manufacturing, and maintain rigorous inspection procedures throughout our entire production process. As a result every Devon garment meets our highest quality standards and provides you with a cost-effective purchase.

Care labels

Every garment lasts longer if cared for according to its needs. To help you get the most out of your Devon school-wear garments, we attach dedicated Care Instruction labels to all our apparel. Our dry clean only garments, such as pure wool blazers, carry labels citing important information about solvents and drying temperatures. Most of our school wear garments are machine or hand-washable, and will remain fresh and true to shape long term, especially if you’re aware of a few laundry dos and don’ts.

We suggest you do:

  • Wash whites, colours and dark garments separately
  • Turn garments inside out to wash
  • Wash on a gentle machine cycle
  • Fasten all zips, buttons and studs first
  • Use an approved laundry detergent when washing wool
  • Ease knitted and stretch garments into shape before drying
  • Dry all garments in the shade or away from direct sunlight
  • If you must tumble dry, do so on a low setting
  • And if ironing is needed, set the iron on ‘warm’

We suggest you don’t:

  • Use bleach to remove stains, rather soak the stain as quickly as possible in cold water
  • However, avoid soaking those parts of a garment that are printed or embroidered
  • Avoid enzyme based detergents and soakers
  • Avoid applying an iron directly to embroidered or printed areas, rather turn the garment inside out or iron through a cotton cloth

General recommendation

We also recommend you wash all washable garments before they are worn. This sets the dye completely and softens the fabric making it comfortable to wear from the start.
